Thomas J. Russell, Jr., 64, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 25, 2016, at Lexington Health Care in Wheeling, Ill.  Tom was born December 19, 1951, in Evanston, and grew up in Park Ridge.  A long-time resident of Mt. Prospect, Tom graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, and obtained a B.A. degree from Northern Illinois University, and later a Juris Doctorate from DePaul University.  He worked in the insurance industry for much of his life, most recently at National Catholic Society of Foresters in Mt. Prospect.   He was an avid golfer, participating in numerous local tournaments.  Tom was also an enthusiastic fan of Chicago sports teams, especially the Cubs.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Thomas J. Russell, a prominent local attorney and professor of law, and his mother, Eileen Kelliher Russell.  He leaves behind his loving sisters, Maureen Mongan-Smith, of New Bern, North Carolina, and Kathleen R. Quirsfeld, from Prospect Heights, and a brother, Daniel J. Russell, of Fort Worth, Texas.  Tom was a beloved uncle to David, John, and Kathleen Mongan, Timothy and Courtney Quirsfeld, and Meagan and Lindsay Russell.

Visitation Friday, October 28, 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. (at Northwest Highway) Mt. Prospect.

Funeral Saturday, October 29, 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Interment All Saints Cemetery.
